Right on our doorstop, a school tour Northward bound can be as interesting, exciting and fun as many other European destinations and if you choose to travel here, you will have the benefit of the Saffron Travel Northern Office coordinating your entire itinerary and a Saffron Appointed Coordinator with your group from beginning until the point of your departure.

Starting in Belfast, your chosen activity options here will mean that you could go from learning about the City that is the birthplace of the ill-fated Titanic and the ship herself in the morning to spending an afternoon listening to ex political prisoners, from both sides of the community explain their personal roles in the North’s troubled past.

Following evening activities in Belfast, overnight is recommended, ahead of departure for The North Coast and the Walled City of Derry on Day 2. En Route to Derry, we will spend a morning and afternoon visiting the World Heritage Site of the Giant’s Causeway and (if you dare) the Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge. As you make your way to the bridge that was first built in 1755 you will have an opportunity to take in the breathtakingly beauty of the North Coast of Ireland along the short coastal path that leads to the bridge itself.

After the excitement of this we will make our way to the City of Derry where we will stay overnight ahead of a day of activities. When in Derry you may choose to visit the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall, the Guild Hall and the Museum of Free Derry which may be scheduled around your walking tour of the City which will include Cities Walls, the Peace Bridge, the Murals and the Bogside.

This tour that can will cater for many cross departmental subjects including history, art & design, science, geography, performing arts and drama (much of the award winning Game of Thrones was filmed here) and for those that would like to include a language element, we can also run the tour completely in the Irish Language!
